"My daughter has been riding for Emily a
little over 2 years now. I cannot even begin to tell you the difference Emily has made in my daughter’s life…the
two years we’ve been with Emily were also the last two years of my Mother’s life. My Mom “Gramma”
was a very special & daily part of Maggie’s life. Grief comes out in many different ways, and in Maggie’s
case my Mom’s battle with cancer affected her speech & confidence. Maggie’s speech went through stages
where it was either not evident at all or a frustrating & confusing struggle for every word. I expressed my concern
to Emily in the beginning, and she moved ahead with Maggie, seeming to just “know” what she needed at each lesson,
on many levels. Emily is extremely sweet & sensitive…yet she requires concentration & increasing skill
from her riders. She allowed Maggie time to talk to her – and showed her consistent strength & encouragement.
None of the speech issues fazed Emily and that in and of itself was so very comforting to Maggie, and to me. What an
amazing gift...we see very little of the struggle for words anymore!
Emily requires her students to learn equine anatomy & care as well as riding skills; whether or not they have
their own horse…they learn it verbally & physically at each lesson. Personally taking care of the horse they
are working on at each lesson: saddling/bridling, removing the saddle/bridle afterwards, complete brush down, care & grooming
– all of this is done while listening to & interacting with Emily in an informal teaching discussion. These
additional levels of understanding make for a better horse rider & horse lover. We have
done several eventing shows with great success and love being a part of the Jumping L Equestrian Team!
Thank you Emily, for a constant reminder that what you give,
you will ABUNDANTLY receive!!"
