Emily Lock
Like many young girls, Emily grew up being captivated
by such magnificant creatures as horses are! That young facination has turned into a life dedicated to
learning, training and teaching in the discipline of dressage and eventing.
As a young girl Emily
started lessons with a BHS certified trainer who had spent years in training with USET Olympic riders. Having
a foundation of second hand information from Olympic riders was probably the best asset to Emily's start! This
led to the ability to compete in various horse shows and trials throughout high school and into college years.
Emily graduated from Howard Payne University, located in Brownwood, Tx., with a BA degree in Psychology with
an emphasis on child psychology. This has been particularly helpful in working with many different types
of children. During those 4 years, Emily worked for a theraputic equestrian center in which she participated
in helping with lessons children with disabilities as well as train the horses they depended on. Besides this equestrian
center, she has also worked for a professional barrel horse ranch training young barrel horses as well as a horse rescue
ranch for equine rehabilitation.
The last eight years, Emily has been introducing young riders to the
great sport of eventing as well as getting more advanced riders in the show ring. She is currently working towards her
actual PRI certification and is currently certified for CPR and first aid safety. Because she has grown up
with this disease called "horse fever," Emily understands the desire in young girls to have
a part in learning and working with horses. She hopes to continue to pass that same passion and knowledge on
to the girls who just can't get enough of these truly magnificant creatures!
